The Nick La Riviere Septet
Thursday, April 6th: Hermann’s Jazz Club
Saturday, April 8th: Galiano Island
On April 6th my septet will be playing at Hermann’s Jazz Club. The band features Brittany Iwanciwski and Ann Fraser on violins, Silvina Samuel-Lowden on cello, Chris Van Sickle on piano, Sean Drabitt on bass, and Damian Graham on drums. Aside from trombone, I’ll play some conch shells, wine glasses, and who knows what else. The music will include something for everyone. The night begins with a focus on well-arranged jazz; tunes by Charlie Parker, Chick Corea, JJ Johnson, as well as some originals. As the evening goes on, the set will include some Joe Cocker, Dr John, and of course, more originals – and insanity (trombone Van Halen?). This band is a ton of fun, and I love performing with the rich musical tones of string section. Don’t miss it!
Reservations can be made here. Note that this show starts a little earlier than my usual Hermann’s shows – 7:30 instead of 8.
The band will also perform on Galiano Island on April 8th presented by the Galiano Concert Society. More info at this link.
Follow me to Luxembourg!
I recently performed at the Zeltic Fest in Dudelange, Luxembourg with The Paperboys from Vancouver. Using my iPhone, a GoPro, and a drone, I made a tour blog video that turned out quite well. Aside from clips of the performance, you’ll also see some great scenery in Dudelange, Luxembourg City, and Metz (France). Don’t let the low number of YouTube views make you think no one’s seen this – I’ve mainly been sharing a separate upload direct to Facebook, which has 1800+ views.
Thanks everyone for your support, and I hope to see you at Hermann’s on April 6th!
Nick
