Hi again everyone!
First off, THANK YOU VERY MUCH to everyone who came out to Hermann’s last Friday for The Nick La Riviere Band. Thanks to all of you, we sold out. There was literally no way we could have had one more person in the room. So thanks! I had a great time playing, and I hope you enjoyed the show! I’m working on booking more shows with that band, so keep in touch and I’ll let you know when you can see us again.
Now, as it goes with the busy life of a musician, on to this weekend:
I’ll be back at Hermann’s on both Friday and Saturday nights with a great local band called The HiFi. Featuring a mix of original material by myself, Damian Graham on drums, ‘Art Booker’ on piano, and Ryan Tandy on bass, as well as covers of awesome funky New Orleans tunes by people like Allen Toussaint, Dr John, and others.. it’s a really fun night of music. Here’s a video so you can see what it’s all about:
I’ll also be playing at Hermann’s on February 11th with Jeff Agopsowicz. Former member of Victoria’s Naden Band, fantastic trombone player. We’ll be joined by Karel Roessingh on piano, Sean Drabitt on bass, Damian Graham on drums, and for the second set, Duncan Meiklejohn on guitar and vocals. We’ll start the night off by playing some wild jazz, including our rendition of the Buddy Rich Big Band’s West Side Story Suite paired down for two trombones and rhythm section, and then we’ll bring Duncan out for some 70’s tunes by bands like Earth Wind & Fire, and Kool & The Gang. It’s a ton of fun.
Thanks everyone, I hope to see you at one or both of these shows!
Nick
